The Wayang Puppet Theatre is a traditional Indonesian form of puppet theatre. The theatre depicts dramatic stories from mythology and folklore, all accompanied by a gamelan orchestra.
When thinking about my own work it is interesting to see how the puppets are able to be so detailed while remaining as only silhouetted figures. They are able to tell complex stories, with light being shone from behind to make the puppets make shadows. It is interesting to see how much can be done with such a simple colour palette and how the puppets are able to express emotion through how their limbs are moved.
