When looking for music I didn't haven anything specific that I was going for. I knew that it needed to compliment my animation without distracting from it and it needed to match the feeling of my work. Below is a screenshot of all the pieces that I 'starred' as possibilities. The Youtube Audio Library is a great resource for royalty free music and had the benefit of being able to search for music by mood.
After listening to, and trying out, (and not liking) a number of pieces of music I came across 'When the Ash Settles' by The Westerlies. It fits the mood of my piece really well and when I saw how well the timing matched up with the last scene I knew it was the right piece to go with my work.
